Couples Resorts

Located in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay
Adults Only

Couples Negril ~ Negril Jamaica

Pros

  • Beachfront location on Bloody Bay
  • Chic pool, 2 Jacuzzis, and a swim-up bar
  • 5 restaurants, with food served around the clock
  • All-inclusive rates include premium-brand liquor, unlimited golf, water sports (even scuba diving), off-site excursions, and airport transfers
  • Fitness center, tennis courts, basketball courts, and aerobics studio
  • Lagoon spa with tree house treatment rooms
  • Modern rooms with free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs
  • No children allowed

Cons

  • Some rooms have lackluster views
  • No elevators
  • A bit removed from the main action in Negril

Bottom Line
This 234-room beach resort delivers more than the free meals and cheap booze of the typical all-inclusive; offerings include top-shelf liquor, unlimited golf, water sports and excursions, airport transfers and minibars that are re-stocked daily. It's a bit less crowded, and often cheaper, than its sister property Couples Swept Away. Rooms here are arguably nicer as well, though some may find Bloody Bay location less appealing than Swept Away's location on Seven Mile Beach.

Couples Sans Souci ~ Ocho Rios Jamaica

Pros

  • Located on a quiet and secluded cove
  • Rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, MP3 players, and free Wi-Fi
  • All units have private furnished balconies
  • Truly all-inclusive: free top-shelf booze, Wi-Fi, meals, water sports (including scuba diving), excursions, and airport transportation
  • Beautiful native landscapes with waterfalls, grottos, and jungle throughout
  • 4 pools and 2 beaches that don't feel crowded
  • No children allowed

Cons

  • Rooms showing some wear (particularly the tiles)
  • Most units have only garden or only partial ocean views
  • Nothing within walking distance
  • Fewer dining options than most other all-inclusive resorts on the island

Bottom Line
This 35-acre, 148-room all-inclusive resort has a lush natural setting filled with waterfalls, grottos, beaches, lakes, and jungles. It still has the features of a megaresort -- three restaurants, four pools, two beaches, four bars, a spa, and tons of free activities -- but it's one of the few large-scale resorts that manages to feel crowd-free and even intimate. The rooms and public areas could use some cosmetic updates, however.

Couples Swept Away ~ Negril Jamaica

Pros

  • One of Jamaica's best beaches - Negril's Seven Mile Beach
  • Varied, high-quality food (even at 4 a.m.)
  • Name-brand liquor included at no extra fee
  • 10 tennis courts, lap pool, aerobics studio, and gym on-site
  • Full-service spa
  • Modern rooms with free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, and flat-screen TVs
  • No children allowed

Cons

  • Less exciting nightlife - mostly just a piano bar for sing-alongs
  • Traffic audible in some rooms
  • Small pools
  • Outdoor gym facilities make working out unpleasantly sweaty

Bottom Line
Restricted to couples, this large (though quiet) 312-room all-inclusive is on one of Jamaica's best beaches. Modern rooms with Wi-Fi and iPod docks, quality food, and a low-key atmosphere. Located on the best beach in Jamaica, 7 mile beach.

Couples Tower Isle ~ Ocho Rios Jamaica

Pros

  • Located on a white-sand beach
  • Truly all-inclusive: free top-shelf booze, meals, water sports (including scuba diving), excursions, and airport transportation
  • Multiple dining options, including gourmet Caribbean fare and a 24/7 pool grill
  • Gorgeous full-service spa
  • Rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, MP3 players, and free Wi-Fi
  • All units have private furnished balconies
  • Private Island
  • No children allowed

Cons

  • Both pools are small
  • Rooms less luxurious than common spaces
  • Nothing within walking distance

Bottom Line
One of the island’s first resorts and a former playground for 1950s Hollywood A-listers, this 226-room, 19-acre Ocho Rios all-inclusive is a sophisticated option. Public areas are chic and modern, but the rooms fall a bit short by comparison. The pools are also unexceptional, though they do have ocean views, and one has a swim-up bar. The gorgeous spa, robust all-inclusive offering (excursions and top-shelf booze are covered), beachfront location, and mellow vibe are the highlights here.
